Detailed Walkthrough
Talk to Farmer Mahtan to learn of the wolf problem his shepherd, Gildor, faces.
Head back down the hill to the Northwest and follow the trees Northeast to the clearing where Gildor is guarding the flock of sheep.
Completing this quest successfully can be a pain depending on your level. Depending on your level, the 7 wolves that spawn after you talk to Herder Gildor for the first time will either wander around aimlessly, or attack both you and Herder Gildor. Since Gildor is not a henchman, it is very easy for him to die before all the wolves are dead, causing you to fail the quest.
If you successfully save Gildor, you need to talk to him again. He sends you after the rest of the wolf pack, which is located to the Northeast, whilst he tends to his wounds.
Follow the river North until you reach a bridge – the wolf pack is just on the other side of the river. Cross over the bridge and kill the 9 quest marked wolves wandering around. You’re also likely to run into undead legionnaires here, so potions of undead death can be helpful.
Once the pack is dead, return to Gildor and talk to him again, then kill him when he turns into a werewolf.
Talk to Farmer Mahtan for your reward.

Notes
- Note: If Gildor dies during the first wolf attack you still need to talk to Farmer Mahtan to 'complete' the quest
