Near the southeast gate of Artamark, Scholar Farek is looking for someone to help him. He's in search of a rare book. He wants you to visit the herb woman at her home to find out if she knows where a copy can be found. To help you along, he's sending his assistant Heribert along with you.

Heribert will go along with you to the library. When you get there, he will tell you he's NOT going in as there are all manner of vermin in the underground library. Make your way east on the road heading out of Artamark's Gate until you come across a resurrection monolith on the side of the road. Another road branches off to the south from there. Follow the road all the way up to the bridge where you will find a guard standing who will tell you they're at war with a neighboring barony and he can't let you pass without permission from the Baron.
Of course, this is rather difficult given the baron of the area has been dead at least as long as the guard.
