Quick Walkthrough
Detailed WalkthroughYou encounter a Tribal Leader, who won't let you pass until you fight with Lizardman Companion. Let's see what the Companion thinks about it. Fight each other to the death. This is the warrior's land. If you want to pass through here, you must first prove your skill. You will fight each other. Only when one of you is dead may the other move on.
I will not attack my comrad! If that means we die, then at least it will be with honor and not with disloyalty.
You are extremely loyal. Loyalty is as valued here as bravery, you have shown both. If you want to join our tribe, you are welcome.
Go to the oasis south of here. This is an offer I can't refuse. With the fog monster gone, I'm not needed at my old village. I seek adventure and a new home, and these people offer me both. I'll leave you now, you'll be able to find the oasis in the south without help. It has been an honor and a pleasure to walk and fight by your side. Farewell my friend, take care during your travels.
Retrieve the Scroll of Devil’s Fire from the cave in the south. Welcome to our lands, stranger. If you haven't been here before be wary, the desert is as deadly as she is beautiful. You will always find shelter and hospitality in our tents. Sadly, you arrived in troubled times, we are on the brink of a civil war. The King is dead and his brother, Al Sadim, is currently our provisional leader. We will have elections soon. There the tribal leaders decide whether Al Sadim remains our King, or if the crown goes to the Prince who also claims it. Many tribal leaders do not want the Prince to be King, but they're afraid he will retaliate if they don't vote for him. If he acquires the Devil's Fire he will seek revenge on all those who opposed him. They fear the Devil's Fire, so we must prevent the Prince from getting it. There is a cave far to the south, where the formula for the Devil's Fire is kept, written on an ancient scroll. There are other treasures in this cave, but they must not be touched lest they bring doom. Would you go to this cave and retrieve the Devil's Fire scroll? You must take them to Al Sadim, and pledge upon your honor not to touch any other parts of the treasure. This aid would be invaluable to us.
Go find Assim, the alchemist, and bring him to me. So you're bringing me the Scroll of Devil’s Fire! I appreciate your effort. Before I accept your gift, I want you to trust me, to believe that my intention is not to acquire the Devil's Fire. Instead, my goal is to prevent anyone from manufacturing it. The Prince will do anything to gain power, but he who rules without the consent of the governed is doomed to fail. Now, if you truly believe in my intentions, hand the scroll to me.
If we want to prevent the Prince from taking advantage of the Devil's Fire, we must first understand it. There is only one alchemist skilled enough to analyze the scroll. His name is Assim, and he's living northwest of here. Would you go and bring him here!
I'll follow you, lead on. The provisional King wants to sec me! Oh how exciting, I wonder what he wants, perhaps he's heard of my theories and wants to ask me about them! I really should finish this experiment, but we can't keep the king waiting I suppose. Ok, I'm ready. Let's go.
Hold! We're here in peace, lay off your weapons! Let me introduce myself, I'm Tariek-Sul, envoy of the Prince. We aren't interested in you, however we ARE interested in your companion there, the alchemist. So, I'll make you an offer you shouldn't refuse. Turn over the alchemist, and I'll give you three bags of gold and free passage through the entire territory. The Prince is a powerful man, it's not smart to refuse his friendship. What do you say?
All... yes, I thought so. Loyalty and honor and all that rot. Well then, I guess we need to solve the problem in a different way. You are going to regret your decision very very soon. .. KILL HER!
