Sacred can be played in a variety of modes. The most obvious difference is between Multiplayer, often referred to as MP, allowing for more than one player to be in the game, and Single Player, also called SP, wherein only one character may play.
MP can be played in several submodes as well:
- Closed Internet
- Open Internet
- LAN
