Detailed Walkthrough

After talking to the guard at the end of the previous quest, A Long Lost Letter, you've got a bit of a problem. The guard needs some proof that you've got permission to enter, however, the baron who used to rule the area has been as dead for as long as the guard, at least. So you get the brilliant idea to visit the local cemetary - Last Watch - to see if you can maybe find some relic belonging to the baron or a previous baron of the realm.

As you enter the cemetary area, you'll note that things are getting dark rather suddenly. There are a fairly large number of ghosts - human and animal - as well as a few zombies roaming the grounds. Kill them all and find the entry to the catacombs. Go inside. The catacombs here are arranged in a circular path with the Baron's sarcophagus being on the far side of the circle. Make your way there.

Open the baron's tomb and a ring will pop out. Grab the ring and head back out.

Go back to the bridge and talk to the guard. He will recognize the ring as belonging to the Baron and will open the gate. Go right on in...

• Going to the Last Watch and cracking open the Baron's grave before you've gotten this quest won't help. The ring won't be there until after you take the quest.
