Game boxes are some items that can be found in the game and have no use, they are a tribute to some videogames created by the company Ikarion. Ikaron was developing Armalion but they went bankrupt, some of the developers ended working for Askaron and used some of the resources originally made for Armalion to create Sacred.

One of the characters you have to kill in the Bounty Hunt series quest is called Azathot, referencing Azathoth.

During Captain Vernon, the player has to fight several guardians of his necklace; two of which are named after beings from the Lovecraft mythos: Shub-Naggurith the First Guard, named after Shub-Niggurath, and Nyarlothatep the Second Guard, named after Nyarlathotep.

During The Dryads, player fights another demon named after a character from the Lovecraftian mythos: Hoth-Yotsog, named after Yog Sothoth.

Sometimes Gladiator will say "Hasta la vista, baby!" referencing Terminator 2.

One of the Dwarf sayings "Of course! A dwarf needs no fellowship for quests like these" is a reference to The fellowship of the ring.

Stampfa, the god of goblinoids is a reference to the Ork Stompa war machine from Warhammer 40.000, which is called "Stampfa" in German.
