Sockets are special equipment slots. They are displayed as little boxes in the lower left corner of the item window. Smiths and Dwarves with the Forge Lore skill can place items in those sockets. The following items can be placed into a socket slot:
- Runes
- Rings
- Amulets
- Skeleton Skulls (Available only in Single Player)
- Scale of a Dragon
- Orbus Dracos - Full
- Special Smiths, Dwarf and Neophystis bonuses.
Placing an item in a socket adds the placed item bonuses to the item to which said socket belongs. But there are four bonuses that the placed item can have that are increased by the socket:
- Attack
- Defense
- Damage (any type)
- Resistence (any type)
Sockets can have four different colors, the color indicates how much the said bonuses are increased.
- Bronze: bonuses are increased by 5%
- Silver: bonuses are increased by 7%
- Gold: bonuses are increased by 13%
- Green: bonuses are increased by 13%; And there is an unusually high increase in the base item value [Note: this type of socket is limited to Sleep's Brother
