You were exploring a northern part of Tyr Lysia when you discovered a small High Elven Outpost in the mountains. While heading to the outpost, you hadn't yet been aware of adventures that awaited you there. But then you met the Guardsman who told you that the outpost was sieged by Kobolds and asked for your help. Readily accepting his task you headed to the fort, only to find yourself in the middle of the battlefield. Few elven soldiers were desperately trying to keep the enemy away from the bridge that leads to the fort. Some of the elves were already wounded, one of them even lying on the ground... So you decided that it's a right time to move and assisted the elves in their fight. After the last Kobold was down, you returned to the badly wounded soldier, who was lying on the ground next to the bridge, to see if you can do something for him.
Take the talisman to my parents!
Please... help... me. We were ambushed by goblins... didn't stand a chance... I won't make it-, lost too much blood... Would you honor my dying wish? This talisman... my mother gave it to me when I left home to... become a soldier. Deliver it to her, so she has at least something to remember me by...
Sadly, it was too late to help him. The wounds were too severe and the soldier was dying. However, he had a request for you. How could you not honour his dying wish? So you took the talisman he gave you and got a move towards Clearview, where the Dying Soldier's family resides.
- The road from the outpost to Clearview is quite a long one. It also can't be considered the safest one, since it lies between the Undead Legion camps. Of course, if you have a portal opened in this town, you have nothing to worry about. Otherwise you can take a route shown on the map below.

Once in Clearview, you started to look for the house the soldier told you about. It turned out to be the Rune Master's house, so finding it was easy. The soldier asked to give the talisman to his mother. However, the only person who was home at the moment was an old man. Well, maybe he's the soldier's father or other relative. So you decided to approach the old man and show him the soldier's talisman.
Gods, this is my son's talisman. but... that's impossible! He was among the bravest of his unit. What a terrible fate! Thank you for fulfilling our son's last wish. Please go now. We want to mourn him in peace...
The man recognized the talisman. Looks like the soldier really is... was his son. Garrek was extremely upset with the news, however he rewarded you for granting his son's wish. Now there is nothing you can help Garrek and his family, so you'd better leave.

Notes
- Since this quest requires Cut Off to appear and Cut Off is available in Single Player Campaign only, this quest can't be accessed in Multiplayer either.
- This quest is Light Path only. It has a Shadow Path counterpart called From Cold Dead Hands.
- The quest giver for this quest appears in the exactly same place with the quest giver for its counterpart. They also look the same. Therefore it's free to assume that they are the same soldier. However, they are named differently. According to how they are named and how they talk, in the Shadow version of the quest the soldier is in better condition than in the Light one.
