As you found out, Scout Menatrin wasn't just hiding in a cave. He was... well, scouting. He seems to find out some important information about the local pirates. Of course, you want to know more about his findings, don't you?
That may be interesting to Officer Rengelwyn as well, so Menatrin wants you to report to his superior. He is also very worried about his reputaion and wants you to tell Rengelwyn how brave his scout is. That won't be hard, since all you have to do is to head back out of the cave and then across the path to where Rengelwyn is standing.
