Frost_nova.png Waves of icy crystals radiate outward around the Sorceress. This spell is effective against large groups of swarming melee attackers, who soon find themselves the surprised victims of a vicious, chilly assault.

This is a Spell Damage Based Combat Art.

Frost Nova

Skills and Attributes

The following skills will affect this combat art:

  • Combat Discipline - will increase the damage of this combat art and lower its regeneration time if it is placed in a combo.

The following attributes will affect this combat art:

  • Stamina will lower regeneration time

Usage Strategies

  • The range of Frost Nova does not increase. However, using the item modifier Combat art range +X% can be used to boost the radius of the nova quite high.
  • Deep Frost increases enemy sensitivity to ice damage, like reverse Damage Mitigation. It can pierce ice immunities and also affects even enemies without any ice resistance. Hitting enemies with Frost Nova modded with Deep Frost is a good precursor to using other ice spells, which will cause more damage.
  • Conservation gold mod can decrease the regeneration time to very low levels but it will not affect the 14s cooldown, which is fixed.

Pros and Cons

Pros

  • Can be useful against very large mobs that are not moving, for example enemies within melee range
  • The effect follows the Sorceress around while it lasts
  • Ice resist reduction can be useful when paired up with other ice-using characters
  • Damage mitigation from Glaciate mod protects against physical damage spells and weapon attacks

Cons

  • Mediocre initial damage
  • Requires the Sorceress be fairly close to enemies
  • 14 second cooldown is fixed (not modified by skills or attributes) in addition to the regeneration time.
